Help a Teacher Out

With all the budget cuts and strain on our education system recently, we thought we would try to do a little something to help out some of our local teachers. We will be putting together a special "Back-To-School Package" for some deserving teachers in our area. Hopefully the package will help alleviate some of the "extra" costs for the teacher's school year and help him/her know that we as a community are here supporting what they do for our children. Do you feel the need to help out as well? Here's how:

• Nominate a teacher that you believe deserves it. Please include the teacher's name, school and grade they teach, and why you believe they deserve it. • Help donate to the package. We will be collecting items that teachers need for their students, their classroom or just for themselves. If you can't think of anything, contact us and we can give you some ideas or if you would like, you can just donate money and we will do the shopping (we can even show you the receipt so you will know exactly what your money bought). The more donations we receive, the more teachers we will be able to recognize with a package (and the more items we will be able to give in the package as well)

We will not take full recognition for this project. We are just trying to organize it since we have somewhat of a public means to do so. Our goal is not to promote ourselves but to show teachers in our area that this community supports them. We will give the teacher a card with everyone's name who donated or nominated them.

We will collect nominations and donations throughout the summer and surprise the selected teachers with their gifts during their first work week (before school starts) as they prepare their classrooms and selves for the upcoming school year.

Unfortunately, we can not extend this project very far so the teachers need to be from the Comal ISD or New Braunfels ISD. But if you have the means to do it yourself, get out there and help our teachers out, wherever they may be! Now, more than ever, our teachers need to know that despite what cuts they receive to the already dwindling budget, we are there to support and help any way we can.
